Patiala (Punjab), February 6, 2026: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Friday asserted that Punjab’s future lies with the Bharatiya Janata Party and said that once a BJP government is formed, development in the state will gain rapid momentum, starting from regions like Patiala.
Addressing a Samman Samaroh in village Panjola near Patiala, Saini said Punjab would emerge as a leading state of the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Chief Minister said that all Central government welfare schemes would be implemented effectively on the ground in Punjab once BJP comes to power. On his arrival at the venue, he was warmly welcomed by programme organiser Satpal Poonia with a bouquet and siropa.
Highlighting Haryana as a farmer-friendly state, Saini said it is the only state in the country providing Minimum Support Price on 24 crops, with payments credited directly to farmers’ bank accounts within 48 hours of procurement. He added that compensation for crop loss due to natural calamities is also transferred directly, ensuring financial security for farmers.
Saini said the BJP has a proven track record of fulfilling promises, stating that out of 217 commitments made in the Sankalp Patra, 60 have already been completed in the first phase, while the remaining are progressing rapidly. He emphasized that Punjab and Haryana share deep cultural and emotional bonds and should also share a similar development model.
Referring to women empowerment, the Chief Minister said that under the Lado Lakshmi Yojana, women in Haryana receive ₹2,100 per month, with ₹5,000 crore allocated in the state budget. He contrasted this with Punjab, where he claimed the AAP government has failed to fulfil its promise of providing ₹1,100 to women.
On housing and welfare schemes, Saini said nearly 1.5 lakh houses have been provided under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, while 100-square-yard plots have been allotted to 27,000 families. He added that ownership rights have also been granted to families residing on panchayat land for over 20 years.
The Chief Minister said Haryana is leading in health security, with free treatment up to ₹5 lakh annually under Ayushman and Chirayu schemes, benefiting over 25 lakh people so far. Taking a dig at the Punjab government, he alleged that Mohalla Clinics lack adequate facilities and medicines.
Criticising the Aam Aadmi Party government, Saini said Punjab should release a White Paper on its pre-election promises, alleging corruption and deterioration of law and order in the state.
He further highlighted that Haryana provides a pension of ₹3,200 per month to senior citizens and has ensured transparent recruitment without “kharchi-parchi,” resulting in employment for over two lakh youth in the last 11 years.
Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s connection with Punjab, Saini said naming Adampur Airport after Guru Ravidas Ji and plans to develop industrial hubs in Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Amritsar reflect the Centre’s commitment to the state.
Former MP Preneet Kaur, MLA Ashwani Sharma, District President Sardar Jaspal Singh Gangoli, village Sarpanch Sardar Jarnail Singh and several other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
