Amritsar (Punjab), February 6, 2026: Former Congress leader Dr Navjot Kaur Sidhu launched a sharp attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of lacking a true understanding of religious scriptures despite publicly referring to them.
In a series of posts on social media, Dr Sidhu said that while many people claim to read sacred texts, following their teachings in real life is far more challenging. “Guru Granth Sahib is the easiest granth to read but the most difficult to follow,” she wrote, questioning Rahul Gandhi’s understanding of the Mool Mantra.
Invoking teachings from Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Bhagavad Gita and the Upanishads, Dr Sidhu said faith should not be reduced to symbolism or public display. She invited Rahul Gandhi to visit Amritsar and challenged him to engage in a direct, public discussion to answer what she described as “basic questions” related to scriptures and ground realities.
Dr Sidhu also took a dig at the Congress leadership, alleging that Rahul Gandhi remains disconnected from people’s issues. “You prefer to live in a self-created paradise and have no time or ears to listen to ground realities,” she said.
Highlighting her political journey, Dr Sidhu said the BJP had recognised her abilities through internal surveys and offered her an MLA ticket in 2012 while she was serving as a doctor. She asserted that her priority remains public service and the welfare of Punjab, adding that she can work for the state even without active politics.
