“Badals’ Scale Was Weighing Drugs”: CM Mann’s sharp attack on Sukhbir Badal in Dhuri

Dhuri (Punjab), March 17, 2026: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on the Shiromani Akali Dal and the Congress while addressing a public gathering in Dhuri, taking direct aim at Akali leader Sukhbir Singh Badal.
During his address, Mann remarked that while the Congress projected Jawaharlal Nehru as “everyone’s uncle,” Sukhbir Badal portrayed his father, Parkash Singh Badal, as “everyone’s father.” However, he alleged that neither party truly stood with the people. “I am your brother,” Mann said, positioning himself as closer to the public.
The Chief Minister also took a swipe at the Akali Dal’s election symbol—the weighing scale—saying people had voted for it believing it represented the values of Guru Nanak, but it was misused.
In a sharp remark, Mann said, “We realized much later that the Badals’ scale was being used to weigh ‘chitta’ (drugs),” targeting the Akali Dal over allegations related to the drug menace in Punjab.
