Raghav Chadha loses 1 million followers on Instagram after BJP switch

New Delhi, April 25, 2026:A day after his high-profile political shift, Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha has witnessed a sharp drop in his social media popularity, losing nearly one million followers on Instagram within 24 hours of joining the BJP.
Data indicates that Chadha’s follower count fell from around 14.6 million to 13.5 million in less than a day, signalling a significant digital backlash following his exit from the Aam Aadmi Party.
Chadha’s move, which also reportedly saw several other AAP Rajya Sabha MPs aligning with the Bharatiya Janata Party, has triggered political ripples across the country. The shift comes weeks after he was removed as AAP’s deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha.
Political observers suggest that younger audiences, particularly Gen Z, may be driving the sudden dip in his follower base. Known for his strong appeal among urban youth and active digital presence, Chadha’s popularity on social media had often been seen as a reflection of his connect with younger voters.
