Ferozepur’s 10 farmers honoured for adopting eco-friendly farming practices at PAU Conference
Ferozepur, May 8, 2026: Ten progressive farmers from Ferozepur district were honoured during the “Sustainable Agriculture and Crop Residue Management Conference” organised at Punjab Agricultural University for their contribution towards pollution-free and environment-friendly farming practices.
The conference was presided over by Dr. Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice Chancellor of PAU, Ludhiana. The programme, organised jointly by PAU, Clean Air, Sanjh and Aasra organisations, aimed to encourage “Green Champions” who have successfully managed crop residue without burning stubble and have adopted modern agricultural techniques for environmental conservation.
During the event, young farmers Prabhjot Singh and Manpreet Singh from village Mankianwali, Veer Singh and Jaspal Singh from village Shakoor, Mandeep Singh from village Loombriwala, Parmjeet Singh and Gurnam Singh from village Khanna, and young farmers Shagandeep Singh and Tarsem Singh from village Mirje Ke were specially honoured for effective crop residue management.
These farmers have set an example for others by avoiding stubble burning and instead incorporating crop residue into the soil or utilising it for industrial purposes.
The team of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Ferozepur has also been conducting awareness camps and training programmes regularly to educate farmers about the proper use of modern machinery such as Happy Seeder, Smart Seeder, Super Seeder and Mulcher.
Dr. Gurmel Singh, Deputy Director, congratulated the honoured farmers and said that KVK has been providing technical guidance, machinery support and awareness regarding soil health improvement and balanced fertiliser use. He added that these progressive farmers are playing a vital role in spreading the message of sustainable farming among fellow farmers.
He also appealed to farmers to prioritise the protection of natural resources such as air, water and soil for making agriculture sustainable in the long run.
Farmers from several other districts also participated in the conference, received honours and pledged to continue adopting environment-friendly agricultural practices.
