Chandigarh, May 12, 2026:The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Tuesday demanded a high-level independent probe into the alleged links of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Arvind Kejriwal with the alleged corruption racket exposed in the Punjab Vigilance Bureau following the recent Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) action.
Addressing a press conference in Chandigarh, senior SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia alleged that the Vigilance department was being used as a “money collection centre” and claimed that the proceeds of corruption were “going to the very top”.
Majithia also raised questions over the alleged use of Punjab Police gunmen armed with AK-47 rifles for the protection of private individuals accused in the bribery case. Referring to the arrest of Vikas Goel and Raghav Goel near Ambala along with two armed gunmen, he asked who approved official security cover for private middlemen and demanded an inquiry into alleged political patronage.
The SAD leader alleged that several government postings in Punjab were being linked to money collection targets for the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). He further claimed that the alleged involvement of O.P. Rana, OSD to DGP Vigilance Sharad Satya Chauhan, in a bribery case indicated “open loot” within the department.
Majithia said the alleged demand of Rs 20 lakh to settle a vigilance complaint and acceptance of Rs 13 lakh in the case pointed towards large-scale corruption within the system.
Demanding a wider corruption probe in Punjab, Majithia also sought investigation into alleged illegal land deals linked to Punjab Chief Secretary KAP Sinha and called for scrutiny of the functioning of acting DGP Gaurav Yadav.
He further alleged links between arrested Punjab Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora and Arvind Kejriwal, claiming that Arora was allegedly acting as a “money collection and money laundering agent” for the AAP leadership.
Majithia claimed that Arora had been retained in the Cabinet to prevent disclosures against senior party leadership. However, no response from the Punjab Government or AAP leadership had been issued till the filing of this report.
