Beijing (China), May 13, 2026: Donald Trump arrived in Beijing on Tuesday for a closely watched two-day visit to China, where he is set to hold high-level talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping amid rising tensions over trade, technology, Taiwan and the ongoing conflict involving Iran.
The visit marks Trump’s first trip to China since 2017 and comes at a sensitive moment in relations between the world’s two largest economies. The US President is expected to participate in a packed diplomatic schedule, including formal meetings with Xi, a state banquet and a tea reception.
According to reports, discussions between the two leaders are likely to focus heavily on tariffs, technology competition, rare-earth exports, and US arms sales to Taiwan — issues that have continued to strain ties between Washington and Beijing.
