Punjab MC Polls: High voter turnout in Majitha; Elderly voters struggle at poll booths

Majitha (Amritsar), May 26, 2026: Voting for the Municipal Corporation and Municipal Council elections witnessed strong public participation in the Majitha constituency on Tuesday, with long queues seen outside polling booths from early morning.
SSP Amritsar Rural Suhail Mir Khan said elaborate security arrangements had been made for peaceful polling, with around 550 police personnel and officers deployed across the constituency. Additional naka points and patrolling teams were also stationed in sensitive areas.
While enthusiasm among voters remained high, several elderly voters faced inconvenience due to the lack of wheelchairs at some polling stations. Family members were seen helping senior citizens reach polling booths to cast their votes.
Officials said wheelchairs and other required facilities would be provided wherever needed.
