Amritsar (Punjab), May 26, 2026: The BJP on Tuesday enlisted the support of popular rapper and singer Yo Yo Honey Singh for its campaign against the growing drug menace in Punjab, with senior party leader Tarun Chugh describing the artist as a powerful voice capable of inspiring the state’s youth.
During a meeting held in Amritsar, Honey Singh, whose real name is Hirdesh Singh, expressed concern over the worsening drug crisis in Punjab and its devastating impact on families and young people.
“Punjab is going through a difficult phase because of drugs. Families are suffering and the youth are being destroyed. Punjab must be saved from this,” the singer said.
Tarun Chugh praised Honey Singh’s personal comeback journey and said his story could motivate youngsters battling addiction.
“If Honey Singh can make a comeback, then the youth of Punjab can also make a fresh start,” Chugh said, urging the singer to use his music and influence to spread awareness against substance abuse.
The BJP leader termed the drug crisis a major social challenge and said public figures with strong youth connect could play an important role in steering young people away from addiction and towards a healthier future.
