Chandigarh, June 7, 2026: Punjab has crossed the 85 per cent mark in voter mapping under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise, with nearly one lakh voters mapped in a single day during special camps organised across the state on Sunday.
Sharing the information, Anindita Mitra said special camps were conducted at all 24,453 polling booths spread across Punjab’s 117 Assembly constituencies to ensure a smooth and transparent voter verification process.
She said the camps received an overwhelming response from citizens, resulting in the mapping of almost one lakh voters in a single day. With this progress, voter mapping across Punjab has now crossed 85 per cent.
The Chief Electoral Officer expressed gratitude to voters for their active participation and appreciated the efforts of Booth Level Officers (BLOs), who facilitated the verification and mapping process at polling stations across the state.
The SIR exercise is aimed at ensuring the accuracy of electoral rolls and facilitating the inclusion of all eligible voters. Election officials have been conducting voter mapping by matching details of existing voters with earlier electoral records as part of the preparatory phase of the revision process.
Anindita Mitra also informed that the next phase of the Special Intensive Revision will begin on June 25, when Booth Level Officers will undertake house-to-house enumeration across Punjab to verify voter details and assist citizens with electoral roll-related corrections and updates.
Election authorities have appealed to citizens to cooperate with BLOs during the forthcoming exercise to help maintain accurate and updated electoral rolls, a key requirement for free, fair and transparent elections.
