In a significant first, Maharashtra Minister attends Operation Blue Star Anniversary event at Damdami Taksal

Amritsar (Punjab), June 8, 2026: In a notable political development, Maharashtra Water Resources Minister Girish Mahajan attended the Operation Blue Star anniversary commemoration held at the headquarters of Damdami Taksal in Chowk Mehta, Amritsar district.
The June 6 event marked the 42nd anniversary of Operation Blue Star and was attended by Sikh devotees, religious leaders and members of the community from across the region.
Mahajan is being viewed as the first representative of a state government to participate in the annual commemoration at the Damdami Taksal headquarters. The programme featured tributes to key figures associated with the 1984 events, including Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, Subeg Singh and Amrik Singh.
Also present at the event was Rameshwar Naik, who serves as the in-charge of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis' Medical Assistance Cell.
The event concluded with religious observances and remembrance ceremonies dedicated to those associated with the 1984 military operation.
