Surrey, British Columbia (Canada), June 13, 2026: In a major development from Surrey, British Columbia, a delegation of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) visiting Canada reportedly faced protests from Khalistan supporters and supporters of Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), forcing the cancellation of a scheduled breakfast meeting. To avoid confrontation, the Organising Committee of BC for this delegation shifted the venue of the meeting to a nearby Banquit Hall.
According to the Babushahi News Network Canada Bureau, the Breakfast Meeting was scheduled for 10 a.m. on Friday (June 13, Canadian time) at the Punjab Banquet Hall, located inside the well-known Payal Business Centre in Surrey.
The delegation comprised nearly half a dozen senior Akali leaders from Punjab, most of them young party functionaries touring Canada. However, before the leaders could arrive at the venue, a group of SFJ and pro-Khalistan supporters allegedly gathered outside the banquet hall and gathered at its main entrance and access routes.
As a result, the Breakfast Meeting could not be held. Considering the situation at the venue, the Akali leaders reportedly did not proceed to the hall, and the venue of the event was changed. The gathering was primarily intended as an interaction with members of the media and Punjabi NRIs.

Some Key Delegation Members Could Not Reach Canada
The delegation included Brajinder Singh alias Makhan Brar and several other young Akali leaders whose names had figured in the original tour programme.
The development comes amid the controversy over the recent sudden return of Akali leader Parambans Singh Bunty Romana from Canada.
It is also learnt that two other prominent leaders named in the delegation, Rozy Barkandi and Raju Khanna, could not travel to Canada due to unspecified reasons.
The incident has drawn attention within the Punjabi diaspora, highlighting the continuing political divisions among sections of the Sikh community in Canada.
