Punjab Breaking: Youth kills 3 people, then shoots himself dead over land dispute

Batala (Punjab), June 24, 2026: A tragic incident in Punjab’s Gurdaspur district claimed four lives after a young man allegedly shot dead three people, including two of his relatives, before taking his own life late Tuesday night.
The incident took place in Mundi Karaal village under Sekhwan police station in Batala. According to police, the accused was involved in a land dispute with his family.
Police said the youth allegedly opened fire during the dispute, killing his aunt and his minor cousin. A friend of the accused, who is reportedly a soldier, tried to stop him but was also shot dead.
After the shootings, the accused went back to his house and allegedly shot himself in the kitchen. As soon as the police received information, Batala DSP Sukhinder Singh, along with police and forensic teams, reached the spot and began an investigation.
All four bodies have been sent to Civil Hospital Batala for post-mortem examination. Police said the matter is being investigated from all angles and further action will be taken based on the findings.
The shocking incident has left the village in grief and fear, with residents struggling to come to terms with the loss of four lives in a single night.
