Sangrur (Punjab), June 30, 2026: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday flagged off 50 mobile documentary vans to take the life, teachings and philosophy of Guru Ravidass to nearly 13,000 villages across the state's 23 districts as part of the year-long celebrations marking the 650th Parkash Purab of the revered saint.
The specially designed vans, equipped with 12 ft × 8 ft LED screens, will screen a 30-minute documentary highlighting Guru Ravidass Ji's message of equality, social justice, devotion and universal brotherhood. The initiative aims to reach households across Punjab, with a special focus on connecting the younger generation with his teachings.
The documentary campaign forms part of the Punjab Government's year-long programme to commemorate the 650th Parkash Purab of Guru Ravidass Ji, for which the state has earmarked ₹100 crore.
Addressing the flag-off ceremony, Chief Minister Mann said the government was committed to celebrating the occasion in a historic and meaningful manner while ensuring that Guru Ji's message reached every corner of the state.
He described the initiative as a tribute to Guru Ravidass Ji's vision of an egalitarian society free from caste discrimination and social inequality. Mann said the saint's teachings on equality, dignity and the welfare of humanity continue to remain relevant and inspire efforts to build a more inclusive society.
The Chief Minister also said he considered himself fortunate to have had the opportunity to commemorate both the 350th Shaheedi Diwas of Guru Tegh Bahadur and the 650th Parkash Purab of Guru Ravidass Ji during his tenure.
Highlighting the objective of the documentary campaign, Mann said the initiative seeks to familiarise people, particularly youth, with Guru Ravidass Ji's philosophy so they can contribute towards building a harmonious and discrimination-free society.
Punjab Cabinet Ministers Ravjot Singh and Tarunpreet Singh Sond were also present at the event.
