Health Dept reviews maternal death cases; stresses preventive measures

Ferozepur, July 1, 2026: To review the causes of maternal deaths during childbirth and discuss measures to reduce the maternal mortality rate, an important meeting was held at the office of the Civil Surgeon, Ferozepur, under the chairmanship of Himanshu, IAS (Under Training), as per the directions of the Deputy Commissioner.
Civil Surgeon Ferozepur Dr. Meenakshi Dhingra, Assistant Civil Surgeon Dr. Sushma Thakkar, Senior Medical Officers (SMOs) from different health blocks, specialist doctors from Civil Hospital, and paramedical staff attended the meeting.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on maternal deaths reported during childbirth, particularly in the Guru Har Sahai and Kasuana areas, and the reasons behind these deaths were reviewed in detail. The officials examined various factors contributing to maternal mortality and discussed preventive strategies.
Addressing the officials, Himanshu, IAS (Under Training) directed the health authorities to take concrete steps to ensure better healthcare services for pregnant women and reduce complications during pregnancy and delivery. He instructed the staff to ensure early registration of pregnant women, regular health check-ups, and encourage deliveries at government healthcare facilities.
He further emphasized creating greater awareness among the public about various health schemes launched by the government so that maximum people can avail themselves of these benefits.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to strengthen maternal healthcare services and ensure safer motherhood in the district.
