40,244 ticketless passengers caught; Rs 3.16 Crore recovered in Ferozepur Division during June
Ferozepur, July 2, 2026: Northern Railways Ferozepur Division detected 40,244 ticketless and irregular travellers during a month-long ticket checking drive in June 2026, recovering about ₹3.16 crore as penalty from offenders.
According to Paramdeep Singh Saini, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Freight), Northern Railway, Ferozepur, the division has been conducting continuous ticket checking campaigns to curb unauthorized travel and ensure a safe and comfortable journey for genuine passengers.
During the drive, ticket checking staff and Chief Ticket Inspectors carried out intensive inspections on trains across the division, leading to the detection of 40,244 passengers travelling without valid tickets or with irregular tickets. A total penalty of approximately Rs 3.16 crore was collected from the violators.
In a parallel cleanliness enforcement drive, railway officials also conducted regular inspections at major stations to discourage littering and promote cleanliness. During June, 375 passengers were penalized under the Anti-Littering Act, resulting in the recovery of more than ₹69,000 in fines.
Divisional Railway Manager Sanjeev Kumar said the ticket checking campaign would continue across the Ferozepur Division. He emphasized that the primary objective of the drive is to safeguard the interests of genuine passengers by preventing unauthorized travel, thereby ensuring a safer, more comfortable and hassle-free travel experience for those holding valid tickets.
