Deputy Commissioner Gulpreet Singh Aulakh chaired a meeting of the District Cooperative Development Committee at the District Administrative Complex, SBS Nagar, to review the functioning of cooperative institutions, agricultural credit, the supply of fertilizers and seeds, and the services being provided by cooperative banks.
The Deputy Commissioner directed officials of the Cooperation Department to achieve all targets set for the financial year 2026–27 within the stipulated timeline. He emphasized that farmers and the general public should receive the maximum benefit from cooperative services.
Reviewing the performance of cooperative banks, he instructed that customers be treated with courtesy and respect, loan applications be processed expeditiously, and crop loans be made available to farmers on time. He also stressed the promotion of digital banking and modern facilities to enhance service delivery.
The Deputy Commissioner further directed cooperative procurement centres to ensure the timely availability of quality fertilizers, certified seeds, and pesticides at fair prices for the upcoming agricultural season. He warned that hoarding and black marketing would invite strict action.
Emphasizing the need to strengthen the cooperative movement, he underscored the importance of transparency and accountability. He directed that all cooperative societies be audited regularly and made it clear that any irregularities would not be tolerated.
