Nawanshahr, July 7: As part of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the Electoral Rolls, Additional District Election Officer-cum-Additional Deputy Commissioner (G), Sanjeev Sharma, today reviewed the functioning of the SIR Help Desk, Media Monitoring Cell and Voter Helpline-1950 established at the District Administrative Complex, Nawanshahr. Assistant Commissioner (General), Ramanjeet, was also present during the inspection.
Reviewing the preparedness and day-to-day operations, Sharma directed all concerned officers and officials to ensure that every query, grievance and request received in connection with the Special Intensive Revision is resolved within the stipulated time frame in a transparent, impartial and citizen-friendly manner. He emphasized that providing timely assistance to electors is a key priority of the Election Commission of India.
The Additional District Election Officer instructed that every call received on Voter Helpline-1950 should be attended to promptly and that voters must be provided with accurate, complete and satisfactory information regarding the SIR process and related electoral services.
He further directed the Media Monitoring Cell to maintain continuous surveillance over print, electronic and social media platforms to monitor all content relating to the SIR exercise.
In case of any misleading, inaccurate or unverified information, the matter should be immediately brought to the notice of the competent authorities so that the facts can be verified and timely factual clarifications issued to prevent the spread of misinformation.
Sanjeev Sharma stressed that the Special Intensive Revision must be carried out strictly in accordance with the instructions issued by the Election Commission of India, ensuring transparency, fairness and adherence to prescribed timelines at every stage of the process.
Reiterating the commitment of the District Election Administration towards free, fair and inclusive electoral processes, he said that every eligible elector would be provided with accurate information, necessary guidance and all possible assistance to facilitate their participation in the Special Intensive Revision.
He appealed to citizens to rely only on information disseminated through official channels and to contact the SIR Help Desk or Voter Helpline-1950 for any clarification or assistance related to the revision process.
