PSPCL conducts Energy Conservation awareness programme at PM SHRI School in Samana

Samana (Punjab), July 10, 2026: The Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) organised an awareness programme on "Why and How to Save Electricity" at PM SHRI Government Senior Secondary School (Girls), Samana, to educate students about the importance of energy conservation and the efficient use of electricity.
The programme was conducted by officials from PSPCL's Demand Side Management (DSM) Office, including Er. Shammi Jindal, Assistant Superintending Engineer (ASE), Er. Greesh Kumar Mahajan, Assistant Engineer (AE), Er. Amarjit Singh, Additional Assistant Engineer (AAE), and Er. Karamjit Singh, Additional Assistant Engineer (AAE).
The officials explained practical methods and techniques for conserving electricity and encouraged students to adopt energy-saving practices in their daily lives. The students also took a pledge to use electricity responsibly and spread awareness about energy conservation.
As part of the programme, students presented essays on the theme of Energy Conservation, having been guided in advance by the DSM Office to research the topic and develop a deeper understanding of sustainable energy practices. Students also showcased paintings highlighting the importance of saving electricity, which received appreciation from the organisers.
The event was anchored by Gurdhian Singh, while School In-charge Nirmal, along with teachers Amanpreet Kaur, Rekha Rani, Vanita Rani, Malkeet Singh, Jaspreet Kaur, Richa Gupta and Jyoti Kiran, participated in the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, the teachers said the initiative provided students with valuable knowledge about the judicious use of electricity and suggested that PSPCL should organise similar awareness programmes in more schools to promote energy conservation among young people.
The programme concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, where students securing the first, second and third positions in the competitions were presented with notebooks, pens and mugs carrying energy conservation messages by PSPCL officials. Other participants were also encouraged with notebooks featuring awareness slogans.
The school staff expressed gratitude to the PSPCL officials for organising the awareness programme and hoped that similar initiatives would continue to inspire students to adopt energy-efficient practices.
