Patiala (Punjab), July 14, 2026: Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) on Tuesday met a record electricity demand of 17,328 MW without imposing any power cuts, Power Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond said.
The minister said the AAP-led Punjab Government, under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has ensured uninterrupted power supply across the state while successfully handling the highest-ever demand for electricity.
Saund said the government had promised farmers eight hours of uninterrupted power supply for agricultural operations, but they are currently receiving more than the assured duration. He claimed that, for the first time during the paddy season, some farmers had to switch off their tubewells because of the availability of surplus electricity.
Reiterating the government's commitment to its promises, the minister directed PSPCL officials to continue ensuring uninterrupted power supply to farmers so that agricultural activities are not disrupted.

He said that while the government had committed to providing eight hours of uninterrupted agricultural power supply, farmers are currently receiving up to 12 hours of uninterrupted electricity due to surplus power availability and improved power management.
Dr. Garg said the corporation remains focused on maintaining uninterrupted supply during the ongoing paddy season while meeting the state's rising electricity demand.
