Vigilance Bureau nabs Patwari red-handed accepting bribe of Rs. 8,000

Chandigarh, July 14, 2026: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing drive against corruption in the state, has apprehended Patwari Hitesh Kumar posted at revenue estate Mansa Khurd, district Mansa red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 8,000/-.
Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson of the state VB said the above-mentioned accused has been arrested based on a complaint lodged by a resident of Ward No. 2, Mansa Khurd, district Mansa.
He informed that the complainant had purchased 4 kanals of land in the name of his wife in Mansa Khurd. Then the complainant transferred this land to another person by mutual consent. In this connection, complainant alleged that accused Patwari demanded bribe of Rs. 25000/- to execute the mutation of the transferred land in the revenue records. Complainant had recorded the conversation of demanding bribe.
Unwilling to pay the remaining illegal gratification, complainant approached the VB range Bathinda. Acting on his complaint, the VB team laid a trap during which the accused Patwari was arrested red handed while accepting bribe money of Rs 8,000/- from the complainant in presence of two official witnesses.
In this regard, a case under prevention of corruption act has been registered against the accused at VB police station Bathinda and further investigation into this case is under progress.
