Senior Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) member Pawan Maani today urged the Congress high command to take a decisive approach for the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections and field strong, popular, and people-oriented candidates who can connect directly with voters and present a united and powerful face of the party.
Launching a sharp attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, Maani said that the people of Punjab have lost faith in the present dispensation due to its failure to address basic issues affecting every section of society.
“The people of Punjab are fed up with empty promises and ineffective governance. They are looking for a strong government that can restore confidence, maintain law and order, and work sincerely for the welfare of the people. Punjab cannot afford a government that only makes announcements but fails to deliver on the ground,” Maani said.
He said that growing dissatisfaction among employees, farmers, youth, traders, and common citizens reflects the widespread disappointment with the functioning of the AAP government.
“There is visible unrest among government employees over unresolved issues and unfulfilled commitments. Instead of addressing genuine concerns, the government has failed to build trust among its own workforce. A state can progress only when its employees are confident and motivated,” he added.
Expressing serious concern over the law and order situation in Punjab, Maani said that rising incidents of crime and insecurity have created fear among people.
“The primary responsibility of any government is to provide safety and security to its citizens. Unfortunately, the law and order situation in Punjab has deteriorated, and people are questioning the government’s ability to protect them. Punjab needs a government that acts, not one that reacts after problems escalate,” he said.
Maani appealed to the Congress high command to carefully consider public sentiment while finalising candidates for the Assembly elections.
“The coming elections require a united Congress with candidates who have a strong public base, clean image, and the ability to fight for people’s issues. Winning faces with credibility among voters will strengthen the party and send a clear message that Congress is ready to provide a stable and responsible government,” he stated.
He said that factionalism and personal interests must be kept aside, and the focus should remain on strengthening the party organisation and taking the voice of Punjab’s people to every doorstep.
“Punjab is searching for leadership that understands its problems and has the vision to solve them. Congress has the experience, capability, and commitment to rebuild Punjab, but this requires unity, discipline, and the right choice of candidates,” Maani added.
Maani further said that the people of Punjab want a government committed to employment opportunities for youth, economic revival, improved public services, farmer welfare, and restoring the dignity of every section of society.
“Punjab needs a government that works 24 hours for the people, a government of action, accountability, and development. Congress must rise to this responsibility and give Punjab the leadership it deserves,” he said.
