Patiala, August 16, 2026 : District Planning Committee, Patiala Chairman Tejinder Mehta said that the 58th birthday of public servant Arvind Kejriwal would be celebrated till September 15 through a series of public service initiatives. He said that blood donation, eye and organ donation registrations, plantation drives, distribution of saplings and other public welfare activities would be undertaken throughout the month, dedicated to Kejriwal’s vision of public service. He made the announcement while addressing the Jan Seva Diwas programme organised to mark Arvind Kejriwal’s birthday. The programme, organised at the SDKs Bhawan by Team Tejinder Mehta and various city-based organisations under the leadership of Tejinder Mehta, witnessed the donation of 180 units of blood and distribution of 5,800 fruit-bearing and shade-giving saplings. In addition, registrations for 58 eye donations and 58 organ donations were completed. Aam Aadmi Party State General Secretary Baltej Pannu attended the programme as the special guest.
Mehta said the objective of Jan Seva Diwas was not merely to organise an event for a single day, but to continuously strengthen the spirit of serving humanity and fulfilling one’s responsibility towards society. He said Arvind Kejriwal had always placed the welfare of common people and public service at the centre of his vision. Celebrating his birthday as Jan Seva Diwas was a humble effort to carry forward this vision.
Aam Aadmi Party State General Secretary Baltej Pannu said Arvind Kejriwal had always kept public service and the welfare of people at the centre of his vision. He appreciated Chairman Mehta for linking Kejriwal’s birthday with public service initiatives and taking these activities forward on a continuous basis. He said the efforts being made by Chairman Mehta to translate Kejriwal’s vision into action at the grassroots level would play an important role in encouraging people to associate themselves with public service.
PRTC Chairman Harpal Juneja said Chairman Mehta had created a historic example through this initiative. He said instead of limiting a leader’s birthday to a private celebration, connecting it with the welfare of people and society reflected a unique approach. He said the campaign initiated by Mehta would continue to inspire people to contribute towards social service in the future as well.
On the occasion, Arvind Kejriwal joined the programme live, accepted birthday greetings and expressed his gratitude for the initiatives undertaken on Jan Seva Diwas. His appreciation of these public service activities further boosted the enthusiasm of everyone associated with the programme.
