Bangana (Una), September 25, 2026: Former Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Anurag Singh Thakur has taken up the issue of restoring the railway travel pass facility for journalists with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
Thakur wrote to Vaishnaw on September 1, 2026, forwarding a letter from Himachal Union of Journalists (HPUJ) state president Joginder Dev Arya, who had sought the regular resumption of the railway travel pass facility for journalists across the country and in Himachal Pradesh.
In his letter, Thakur described the matter as being in the public interest and requested the Railway Minister to consider the demand sympathetically and take appropriate action.
The HPUJ had raised the issue of restoring the facility, which journalists use for travel related to their professional responsibilities.
Arya thanked Thakur for taking up the matter with the Railway Minister. He said restoration of the railway travel pass facility would help journalists travel for professional work across the country.
