IAS officer Jafar Malik repatriated to Kerala cadre

New Delhi, September 25, 2026: The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has approved the premature repatriation of Jafar Malik, a 2013-batch IAS officer serving as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, to his parent Kerala cadre.
According to the DoPT order, Malik’s premature repatriation was approved on personal grounds, with provision for an extended cooling-off period.
Malik was initially appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Commerce under the Central Staffing Scheme in August 2024 for a four-year tenure. The Kerala government relieved him from the state cadre on August 27, 2024, and he assumed charge of the central post on September 2, 2024.
A direct recruit through the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination, Malik holds a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities and a Master of Arts in History from Kota University.
During his service in Kerala, Malik held several administrative positions, including District Collector of Ernakulam and District Collector of Malappuram.
