Amritsar (Punjab), September 30, 2026: Students of the Chief Khalsa Diwan (CKD) Main Branch school near Amritsar Railway Station were sent home on Wednesday after the school received an email threatening to blow up the institution.
According to information, the threat was sent to the school’s official email address late Tuesday evening. The school administration reportedly became aware of the email after students had already reached the campus on Wednesday morning.
Following the threat, the school declared a holiday and asked parents to take their children home.
Speaking to Babushahi, Chief Khalsa Diwan president and MLA Dr Inderbir Singh Nijjar said the school management had informed him about the threat over the phone. He is currently in Chandigarh and not in Amritsar.
Nijjar said it was unfortunate that miscreants were repeatedly sending such emails and attempting to create fear and disturb the atmosphere. A parent who arrived at the school to collect his child said the staff appeared concerned and that the principal repeatedly announced that parents should take their children home at the earliest.
According to the information available, the school may remain closed for the next one or two days as a precautionary measure, depending on the security situation.
