96 stray dogs vaccinated at Free Anti-Rabies Vaccination Camp in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, October 3, 2026: A free anti-rabies vaccination camp for stray dogs was organised in Ferozepur to mark World Rabies Day, under the directions of Deputy Commissioner-cum-Chairperson, Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), Ferozepur, Deepashikha Sharma, and under the supervision of Dr Kanwar Anoop Kaler, Assistant Director, Animal Husbandry Department-cum-Joint Secretary, SPCA, Ferozepur. The camp was conducted by the team of Government Veterinary Polyclinic, Ferozepur. The theme for World Rabies Day 2026 which is formally observed on September 28, was observed today over the theme of the year as “Stronger Together”
Dr Gurnoor Singh, Veterinary Officer, said that a total of 96 stray dogs were administered free anti-rabies vaccines during the camp. He said rabies is a serious and fatal disease that can be transmitted to humans through the bite or scratch of an infected animal, particularly stray dogs. Vaccination of dogs is an important measure to prevent the spread of rabies and protect both animals and the community.
Apart from the vaccination camp, stray dogs housed at dog shelters run by social workers Ms Malti Sethi in Ferozepur city and Kartik and Prabh Sidhu in Ferozepur Cantonment were also vaccinated against rabies.
The vaccination drive was also carried out at the Government Veterinary Polyclinic, Ferozepur, in coordination with the Executive Officer of the Municipal Committee.
Dr Gurnoor Singh, Veterinary Officer, Randhir Singh, Veterinary Inspector, and Sahil were present during the camp.
