PG Government College for Girls, Chandigarh, donates 70 units of blood to PGIMER

Chandigarh, October 9, 2026: Post Graduate Government College for Girls (PGGCG), Sector 11, Chandigarh, organised a blood donation camp in collaboration with the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, on October 8, collecting 70 units of blood for the institute.
The camp was organised by the college’s Blood Donation Society and National Service Scheme (NSS) units. Dr Palika Arora, PCS, Director of Higher Education, Chandigarh Administration, inaugurated the camp.
A medical team from PGIMER ensured the safe and hygienic collection of blood in accordance with established protocols. The initiative was also supported by the Shri Shiv Kanwar Mahasangh Charitable Trust.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Arora encouraged students to participate actively in social welfare and humanitarian activities. She appreciated the college for providing students with opportunities to engage in socially relevant initiatives and urged young volunteers to continue contributing to community service.
During her visit, Dr Arora also toured various facilities at the college, including the Multimedia Centre, Skill Development Lab and Data Resource Centre, and interacted with faculty members.
She was briefed on the students’ achievements and the four-star rating recently awarded to the institution’s Innovation Council by the Union Ministry of Education. She congratulated the principal, staff and students on their efforts towards academic excellence and institutional development.
Principal Prof. (Dr.) Anita Kaushal thanked the Director of Higher Education for encouraging the students and faculty. She reaffirmed the college’s commitment to the holistic development of its students and appreciated the collective efforts of students, faculty members, alumnae, the PGIMER medical team and sponsors in making the camp successful.
