DIG, SSP and ADC(D) visit drug hotspots areas under "Yudh Nashian Virudh" campaign
Ferozepur, October 10, 2026: As part of the Punjab Government's "Yudh Nashian Virudh" (War Against Drugs) campaign, DIG Ferozepur Range Sneh Deep Sharma, ADC(D) Krishna Pal Rajput and SSP Bhupinder Singh Sidhu today visited several drug hotspot areas of Ferozepur city.
During the visit, they interacted with local residents, made them aware of the harmful effects of drugs, and appealed to them to cooperate with the administration in eradicating the menace. They said that active public participation is essential to root out the drug problem, and that all sections of society should contribute to the campaign.
The officials also visited Rai Sikh Bhawan, where they discussed getting the dilapidated building cleaned and repaired so that it can be put to use again. They then visited the de-addiction centre at Civil Hospital Ferozepur and reviewed the services being provided there. They said the Punjab Government, police and civil administration are fully committed to eliminating drugs, and that efforts will continue to bring people suffering from addiction into the mainstream of society through treatment and rehabilitation.
DIG Sneh Deep Sharma said that, alongside the police, the general public also has an important role in the fight against drugs. He urged people to share any information about drug trafficking with the police, and said families and society must work together to keep young people away from drugs. He assured that the police would take the necessary action to curb drugs and would seek public cooperation to make the campaign more effective.
ADC (Development) Krishna Pal Rajput said that awareness, treatment and social support are vital to solving the drug problem. He said people suffering from addiction should be encouraged to seek treatment through support, rather than being met with hatred or discrimination. He added that, along with spreading awareness against drugs, the administration is also listening to people's problems and working to resolve them.
DSP Sukhwinder Singh, Municipal Council Executive Officer Narinder Kumar, SMO Nikhil Gupta and other officials and staff were also present on the occasion.
