New Delhi, October 11, 2026: Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) president Harmeet Singh Kalka and general secretary Jagdeep Singh Kahlon on Sunday urged the sangat and the public to verify information before sharing it, cautioning against the circulation of unverified claims about Gurdwara Sri Bangla Sahib.
Describing the prominent Sikh shrine as a symbol of humanity, compassion, communal harmony and selfless service, the two leaders said it had consistently upheld the Sikh tradition of seva and welcomed people from all faiths and communities without discrimination.
Kalka and Kahlon said Gurdwara Sri Bangla Sahib had long served as a place of faith, refuge and assistance for people in need. They added that its traditions reflected the teachings of the Sikh Gurus and the principle of sarbat da bhala — the welfare of all.
The DSGMC leaders said preserving the sanctity, dignity and religious significance of the shrine was a collective responsibility. They maintained that religious institutions should not become centres of unnecessary controversy or be used to spread misleading information.
Appealing to the sangat and the general public, they urged people not to believe or circulate unverified information about the gurdwara without checking its authenticity.
They said responsible verification of information was essential to prevent misunderstandings and avoid creating divisions within society.
Emphasising that the gurdwara belonged to the entire community, Kalka and Kahlon called for collective efforts to uphold its traditions of selfless service, compassion and brotherhood.
They urged the public to protect the institution’s religious reverence and strengthen the spirit of service to humanity that it represents.
