PSPCL staff brave stormy conditions to restore power across Punjab....by Manmohan Singh
Across Punjab, due to heavy rainfall accompanied by strong gusty winds on 23 January severely disrupted normal public life. The brunt of this natural calamity was borne by the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL), as the state’s electricity infrastructure suffered extensive damage.
As per information, trees collapsed at several locations onto electricity poles and transmission lines, resulting in fallen poles, snapped conductors, and widespread disruption of power supply.

During this challenging hour, the engineers and employees of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited rose to the occasion, displaying exemplary responsibility, courage, and a deep sense of public service. Despite relentless rain, darkness, and hazardous conditions, PSPCL employees risked their lives and worked tirelessly to restore electricity supply at the earliest possible time.
The relentless, round-the-clock efforts undertaken by PSPCL to ensure uninterrupted power supply to electricity consumers across Punjab are clearly reflected in the encouraging results now emerging on the ground.
Chief Engineer of the South Zone (Operations), Er.Rattan Mittal, informed that due to the rain and storm, a total of 11,636 power supply-related complaints were received in the Corporation cities under the South Zone.
Out of these, power supply has already been restored in 11,552 cases. For the remaining 84 complaints, engineers and field staff are working continuously, day and night. Locations where electricity poles and key infrastructure sustained extensive damage will also get complete resolution of all complaints by 8:00 PM.
As per official data of the Corporation, following the storm and rainfall, a total of 53,432 complaints were registered by electricity consumers across all Corporation cities in Punjab. Of these, 32,508 complaints had been successfully resolved by 12 midnight.
To address the remaining 20,924 complaints, PSPCL engineers and non-technical staff remain steadfastly deployed in the field, performing their duties with full dedication.
Treating consumer service as their foremost responsibility, PSPCL engineers/non engineer staff have continuously worked to restore power supply, which has been re-established in almost all areas, barring a few pockets where severe damage to poles and conductors occurred. These remaining pockets, too, are assured to be fully restored by this evening.
Overall, this entire scenario stands as a living testament to the selfless service, tireless hard work, and unwavering commitment of the employees of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited toward public welfare—demonstrating that, in every circumstance, they remain ever-ready and devoted to serving the electricity consumers of Punjab.
