World Hearing Day celebrated at Civil Hospital, Tarn Taran
Never ignore ear problems, avoid using AirPods and earphones: Civil Surgeon Dr. Gurpreet Singh Rai

Tarn Taran (Punjab), March 3, 2025: Following the guidelines received from the Civil Surgeon of District Tarn Taran Dr. Gurpreet Singh Rai, World Hearing Day was celebrated at Civil Hospital, Tarn Taran on Monday under the leadership of the Senior Medical Officer of Civil Hospital, Tarn Taran Dr. Sarabjit Singh.
On this occasion, the District Immunization Officer, Dr. Varinder Pal Kaur, District Family Welfare Officer, Dr. Satwinder Kumar, the Nodal Officer (National Program for Control of Deafness) Dr. Manmohan Singh and Medical Officer, Surinder Kumar were also present.
On this occasion, Civil Surgeon Dr. Gurpreet Singh Rai went to the Ear, Nose and Throat Department and specially talked to the patients about World Hearing Day and ear care.
He said that the main purpose of celebrating World Hearing Day is to make the citizens aware about ear care so that they can avoid the problem of deafness. Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist and Civil Surgeon Dr. Rai said that if a person is always conscious about the care of his ears, then he can hear well throughout his life, but if we do not take care of our ears, then the problem of deafness can arise at a young age.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Gurpreet Singh Rai said that nowadays it is common to see that many people are using earphones or AirPods in their ears excessively and listening to music at very high volume or talking using them, but using them more than necessary is very harmful for the ears.
Program Officer Dr. Varinder Pal Kaur said that under the National Child Health Programme of the Health Department, if a child below the age of 18 is facing the problem of deafness, then after his examination, the department provides the facility of cochlear implant free of cost. After this implant, the hearing of the child improves.
He said that the health workers have been instructed to spread maximum awareness regarding World Hearing Day so that people become aware about the care of the ears.
SMO Dr. Sarabjit Singh said that if any person faces any kind of problem-related to ears, then they should get their ears checked and treated immediately.
He said that ear treatment is done absolutely free at government health institutions.Nodal Officer, Dr. Manmohan Singh said that a person should never use earbuds or any sharp object in his ears and if a person does so then he may face huge losses.
He said that under the RBSK program, the health department provides free hearing aids to children suffering from deafness so that their hearing ability improves.
