Health Dept Observes Fire Safety Week; Staff take safety pledge
Ferozepur, May 4, 2026:The Health and Family Welfare Department, Ferozepur, under the leadership of Civil Surgeon Dr. Meenakshi Dhingra, observed ‘Fire Safety Week’ across the Civil Hospital and all block-level health centres in the district. During the week, preparedness measures to tackle fire emergencies were reviewed and staff members were sensitized about safety protocols.
At a programme held at the Civil Surgeon’s office, Dr. Dhingra administered a fire safety pledge to doctors, paramedical staff, and Class-IV employees. The staff pledged to prioritize patient safety in all health institutions, learn the proper use of fire safety equipment, and respond calmly and wisely during emergencies instead of panicking.
Dr. Dhingra informed that fire extinguishers, fire alarms, water pipelines, and emergency exits were inspected in all health centres during the week. She highlighted that hospitals face a higher risk of fire incidents due to the presence of oxygen cylinders, medicines, and electrical equipment. Therefore, it is essential for every employee to be well-versed in fire safety norms to prevent loss of life and property.
She also directed all in-charges to conduct monthly inspections of fire safety equipment and ensure immediate replacement of expired fire extinguishers.
