Two Haryana cadre IPS officers empanelled for IG-level posts at Centre

New Delhi, May 29, 2026: The Centre has approved the empanelment of two Indian Police Service (IPS) officers from the Haryana cadre for appointment as Inspector General (IG) or equivalent posts at the Centre.
Hamid Akhtar, a 2008-batch IPS officer of the Haryana cadre, has been empanelled under the initial consideration category. Alongside him, Pankaj Nain, a 2007-batch IPS officer, has also received clearance for IG-level central assignments.
The approvals are part of the Centre’s broader empanelment exercise in which 68 IPS officers from the 2007 and 2008 batches were cleared for Inspector General or equivalent positions in central ministries, paramilitary forces, and federal agencies.
