Himachal Cadre Woman IAS officer gets additional charge as Secretary, D/o Expenditure

New Delhi, June 4, 2026: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the assignment of additional charge of Secretary, Department of Expenditure, to senior IAS officer Anuradha Thakur, 1994-batch IAS officer of Himachal Pradesh cadre.
According to an official order, Thakur, who is currently serving as Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs, will also oversee the Department of Expenditure from June 4 to June 14, 2026.
She has been entrusted with the additional responsibility during the leave period of Vumlunmang Vualnam (IAS:1992), who holds the post of Secretary, Department of Expenditure.
The temporary arrangement ensures continuity in the functioning of the Department of Expenditure, a key wing of the Ministry of Finance responsible for managing government spending, budget implementation and financial regulations.
Anuradha Thakur is one of the senior-most officers in the Union Government and currently heads the Department of Economic Affairs, which handles economic policy, capital markets, infrastructure financing and matters related to the country's overall economic management.
