Chandigarh, July 7, 2025 –
In a major pro-local initiative, the Chandigarh State Cooperative Bank Limited has announced that 85% of its future job vacancies will be reserved for residents of Chandigarh. The decision was taken during a meeting of the bank’s Board of Directors chaired by Chairman Satinderpal Singh Sidhu.
The meeting, held in the presence of Managing Director Anuradha Chagti, SDM (Central) Naveen Rattu, and other senior officials, resolved that out of the 85% quota, 15% of posts would be specifically earmarked for original inhabitants of Chandigarh’s villages.
The reservation policy will be applicable across all modes of recruitment, including regular, contractual, part-time, and outsourced positions. For the remaining 15% of vacancies, preference will be given to candidates from neighboring states such as Punjab and Haryana.
Highlighting the rationale behind the move, the Board noted that despite Chandigarh being the shared capital of Punjab and Haryana, local youth have often been sidelined in employment opportunities due to the Union Territory's unique administrative status. The new policy aims to address this disparity and ensure better representation of Chandigarh residents in the bank’s workforce.
In addition to the recruitment policy, the Board also approved a revised loan policy and sanctioned the upgradation of the Sector-22 branch to improve service delivery and operational efficiency.
