Chandigarh, June 14, 2026: Punjab BJP President Kewal Singh Dhillon on Sunday flagged off three Volvo buses carrying around 150 devotees on the Panch Teerth Yatra dedicated to the life and legacy of Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
The pilgrimage, scheduled from June 14 to June 21, aims to provide participants an opportunity to visit key sites associated with Babasaheb Ambedkar and gain a deeper understanding of his contributions to social justice, equality, and nation-building.
Addressing the gathering, Dhillon said the yatra would cover five significant locations linked to Dr. Ambedkar’s life—Mhow, his birthplace; Deekshabhoomi in Nagpur; Chaityabhoomi in Mumbai; Mahaparinirvan Sthal in Delhi; and the Virtual Shiksha Bhoomi (London), established in Delhi.
He said these sites have been developed and preserved under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to honour Dr. Ambedkar’s enduring legacy and to ensure that future generations remain connected to his vision and ideals.
Dhillon further stated that substantial investments have been made in the development of these memorials and heritage sites, helping transform them into centres of learning and inspiration while promoting awareness of Dr. Ambedkar’s role in shaping modern India.
The delegation is being led by S.R. Laddhar, President of the BJP Scheduled Caste Morcha Punjab and a former IAS officer.
Laddhar said the primary objective of the Panch Teerth Yatra is to take Babasaheb Ambedkar’s message to every section of society and express the nation’s gratitude for his immense contribution to constitutional values and social empowerment.
He added that the five sites associated with Dr. Ambedkar have received unprecedented national recognition in recent years, allowing more people to connect with his life, struggles, and achievements.
