Panchayat Polls: Clash erupts between two parties in Barnala; 2 including candidate seriously injured

Barnala (Punjab), October 15, 2024: A fight broke out between two parties in Karamgarh village of Barnala. Two people, including the Panchayat candidate, have been injured in the incident.
The injured candidate Gurjant Singh said that he is contesting the election from Ward No. 9 from Panchi from Karamgarh.Singh shared that when he was returning in his village late at night, some people harassed him vandalized his car, and beat him badly.
He said that 20-25 goons attacked his car after seeing the defeat of the candidate contesting the Sarpanch election by the opposing faction.
In this attack, he and his friend were seriously injured, both of them suffered head injuries. He demanded the police administration to register a case against the attackers and arrest them immediately.
On this occasion, investigating police officer Harvinder Pal said that Gurjant Singh son of Karnail Singh, a resident of village Karamgarh, has been admitted to the hospital due to injuries. Appropriate action will be taken against the accused after taking the statement of the injured Gurjant Singh.This incident took place during the fight over panchayat elections.
He added that the Panchayat election in the village is being conducted with peace and order.
