Chandigarh, May 26, 2026: Punjab Congress president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring has lodged a complaint with the Punjab State Election Commission alleging that a fake and manipulated audio clip is being circulated on social media to defame him during the election period.
In a complaint submitted to State Election Commissioner Raj Kamal Chaudhuri, Raja Warring claimed that the viral audio clip was nearly seven years old, misleading, and being deliberately amplified with political motives to influence public opinion and mislead voters.
He alleged that the circulation of the clip was part of a “premeditated conspiracy” aimed at damaging his political image during the ongoing elections.
Warring also raised objections over the action of Jasvir Singh Garhi, chairman of the Punjab State SC Commission, for reportedly taking suo motu cognisance of the matter without verifying the authenticity of the audio clip.
In his complaint, the Congress leader sought immediate registration of an FIR against those involved in creating and circulating the alleged fake audio. He also demanded a fair and time-bound investigation into the alleged misinformation campaign.
Raja Warring further urged the Election Commission to examine whether the circulation of such material during the election period amounted to a violation of the Model Code of Conduct and electoral laws.
He called for strict legal action against all those involved in spreading “false and defamatory” content and attempting to influence the democratic process through misinformation.
