Woman assaulted, robbed on moving train, probe on

Hyderabad, October 15, 2025: A shocking incident of assault and robbery took place on board a moving train in Andhra Pradesh.
According to police, a woman travelling alone in the ladies’ coach of the Santragachi Special Express was attacked by an unidentified man late on the night of October 13 between Guntur and Peddakurapadu railway stations.
Following the complaint, the Secunderabad Railway Police registered a Zero FIR and transferred the case to the Nadikudi Police Station, which has jurisdiction over the location of the incident.
Police sources said the survivor, a resident of Rajamahendravaram, was on her way to Cherlapally when a man, believed to be around 40 years old, entered the ladies’ compartment despite her objections. After the train departed from Guntur, the accused allegedly threatened and assaulted her before stealing her mobile phone and Rs 5,600 in cash.
When the train reached Peddakurapadu, the man reportedly jumped off and fled. The woman later lodged a complaint upon reaching Cherlapally.
Teams have been formed to identify and arrest the accused. Authorities are examining CCTV footage from the train and nearby stations to trace his movements.
