Yudh Nashian Virudh': 2680 FIRs registered, 4542 traffickers arrested
164 kg Heroin, 88 kg Opium, 47 kg Cannabis, and ₹5.84 Crore Cash Seized; Properties of 50 Drug Traffickers Demolished

Chandigarh, March 30, 2025: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab leader and Cabinet Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar shared details of the police action under the Punjab government's anti-drug campaign, 'Yudh Nashian Virudh,' conducted between March 1 and March 29.
Addressing a press conference at the party office in Chandigarh on Sunday, Bhullar stated that the Punjab Police has been executing this campaign successfully across the state.Under 'War Against Drugs,' 2680 FIRs have been registered under the NDPS Act, and 4542 drug traffickers have been arrested.
The police have seized over 164 kg of heroin, 88 kg of opium, 47 kg of cannabis, and cash amounting to over ₹5.84 crore. Additionally, more than 8.60 lakh intoxicating pills, 2053 kg of poppy husk, 6.4 kg of hashish, 498 bottles of illicit liquor, nearly 9.5 kg of narcotic powder, and 514 injections have been confiscated.
The properties of approximately 50 individuals involved in drug trafficking, which were illegally constructed using drug money, have also been demolished.
During raids, the police also recovered 22 motorcycles, 8 mobile phones, 4 cars, and 12 pistols linked to drug trafficking. Moreover, over 4 kg of gold, including a necklace and two chains, and 1.25 kg of silver were seized.
Bhullar said that the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal, is fully committed to eradicating drugs from the state.
He declared that no one involved in drugs would be spared and warned drug traffickers to either quit their trade or leave Punjab.
The minister appealed to all panch and sarpanch to not fear and continue their work against drugs. He urged them not to provide any assistance to drug traffickers and assured them that the government would take strict action against anyone who threatens or harms them.
Bhullar also praised the Punjab Police, stating that their capability, efficiency, and bravery have been instrumental in the campaign's success.
He expressed gratitude to the police and urged them to intensify operations in areas where fewer actions have been taken to ensure no drug trafficker escapes anywhere in Punjab.
The minister appealed to the parents of youth affected by drugs to cooperate with the government.He noted that many people hide such issues due to social prestige and shame, even attributing deaths caused by drugs to heart attacks.
He urged parents to come forward and share the truth without fear, assuring them of the government's full support.
