Chandigarh, September 23, 2020: Punjab and Haryana High Court on Wednesday has ordered that former Punjab DGP Sumedh Saini will not be arrested without a week’s notice in any case which has origins during his service tenure as a police officer.
Talking to Babushahi, Saini’s lawyer APS Deol said his client had moved an application in the High Court where he has expressed apprehension that he might be arrested in an old case, like the ongoing 1991 disappearance case of Balwant Multani in which the Supreme Court has already stayed his arrest.

Saini has in his application in the Supreme Court mentioned that the present Punjab government has a vindictive attitude towards him and is trying to snare him in cases from the time when he was leading the fight against terrorism in the state and because of that he fears that the state government may dig up more cases against him.
