Employee of Gurdwara Rakabganj Sahib suspended for misconduct; Akal Takht seeks action taken report

Amritsar (Punjab), May 21, 2025: In a stern move to uphold the sanctity of Sikh religious institutions, Sri Akal Takht Sahib has suspended the services of Balvir Singh, an employee of Gurdwara Sri Rakabganj Sahib, over charges of misconduct involving a female employee of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC).
The matter was reviewed during a meeting held today at the Secretariat of the Panj Singh Sahiban at Sri Akal Takht Sahib.
After examining the serious allegations of misbehavior and inappropriate conduct by Balvir Singh within the sacred premises of the Guru Ghar, the Panj Singh Sahiban deemed the offense a grave violation of the spiritual and moral code of conduct expected in Sikh religious spaces.
The Panj Singh Sahiban emphasized that the incident has deeply hurt the religious sentiments of the Sikh community and caused serious damage to the dignity and sanctity of the Gurdwara. As a result, Balvir Singh's services have been immediately suspended.
Directive to DSGMC:
Sri Akal Takht Sahib has also ordered the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee to submit a detailed report on the actions taken so far in the matter. The report is to be sent without delay to the Secretariat of Sri Akal Takht Sahib.
