Rahul Gandhi expresses solidarity with father of late Agniveer from Faridkot
Faridkot, May 22, 2025: Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, today spoke with Balwinder Singh, father of the late Agniveer Akashdeep Singh, who recently died from a bullet injury while posted in Jammu.
Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring visited Akashdeep’s home in Kothe Chahal village near Faridkot to offer condolences to the bereaved family and conveyed Rahul Gandhi’s message of support.
During the visit, Warring facilitated a direct conversation between Balwinder Singh and Rahul Gandhi. Gandhi assured him of the Congress party’s full support and reiterated the party’s opposition to the “Agnipath” recruitment policy. He emphasized the demand that all soldiers, regardless of their recruitment category, should receive equal treatment.
Rahul Gandhi further assured Balwinder Singh that he would raise the case with the government and relevant forums to seek justice.
Akashdeep Singh, recruited under the Agnipath scheme as an Agniveer, died from a bullet injury while serving in Jammu.
