Dhuri (Sangrur), May 22, 2025: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Thursday emphasized that Lok Milnis conducted in villages are focused on accelerating rural development and providing a direct platform for residents to voice their concerns.
During interactions with villagers of Bhullarheri, Bhalwan, Dhura, Bhadalwad, and Palasaur, following the dedication of several infrastructure projects, the Chief Minister stressed the importance of holistic growth in villages to drive the all-round development of the state. He said the government is making every effort to promote public welfare and rural progress but underscored that success depends on active cooperation from local communities.
Bhagwant Singh Mann urged villagers to regularly monitor ongoing development works to ensure quality execution. He appealed for their guidance and support to make the government’s development initiatives more effective. Simultaneously, he instructed officials to increase field visits to better understand ground realities and further boost rural development.
Highlighting that a majority of Punjab’s population resides in villages, the Chief Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to provide facilities on par with cities. He noted that unlike previous administrations, his government is actively engaging with villagers through Lok Milnis, breaking traditional reluctance among politicians to meet the electorate directly.
The Chief Minister explained that the primary objective of these Lok Milnis is to create a strategic roadmap to fast-track development, especially in rural areas. He noted that numerous projects have already been sanctioned to achieve this goal and called upon citizens to support efforts aimed at strengthening rural infrastructure.
Specifically, in Dhuri block, a grant of ₹15.61 crore has been released for 196 development works across the five villages. Of these, 115 projects costing ₹9.90 crore have been completed, while 81 projects worth ₹5.71 crore are underway. Responding to additional demands from the gram panchayats, another ₹15.65 crore has been sanctioned for 24 more development works.
