Flagging off ceremony of Firozpur Cantt–Nanded Weekly Train cancelled due to Air India flight tragedy; Service to begin as scheduled
Ferozepur, June 12, 2025 – In light of the unfortunate Air India flight accident at Ahmedabad, the flagging off ceremony of the new weekly train service between Firozpur Cantt and Hazur Sahib Nanded has been cancelled. However, the train will commence its scheduled operations from June 13, 2025, as previously announced. This information was shared by DRM Ferozepur Rail Division.
Earlier, it was planned that the Minister of State for Railways and Food Processing Industries, Ravneet Singh, would inaugurate the service at Firozpur Cantt Junction. The new weekly train is intended to ease travel for Sikh pilgrims, as it connects Firozpur with Nanded—home to the sacred Hazur Sahib Gurudwara, one of the five Takhts of Sikhism.
Despite the cancellation of the ceremony, the Indian Railways confirmed that the train will run as per schedule, offering a significant transportation link for devotees and general passengers alike.
