Congress wins in 11 wards of 18 results declared in Ferozepur MC Polls; Husband-Wife duo wins big
Ferozepur, May 29, 2026:Counting for the Ferozepur Municipal Council elections is still underway, but the Congress party has so far emerged with a clear lead in several wards of the city. Out of the 33 wards, 138 candidates were in the fray for the civic body polls held on May 26.
According to the results declared till now of 18 wards, Congress has secured victory in 11 wards, while BJP has won 4 seats, Independents 2, and AAP 1 seat.
One of the most talked-about highlights of the election results has been the impressive victory of a husband-wife duo from the Congress party. In a significant political achievement, both members of the same family won elections from different wards, further strengthening the party’s position in the city.
From Ward No. 6, Congress candidate Rishi Sharma defeated his nearest rival by a margin of 38 votes. Similarly, his wife Isha Sharma emerged victorious from Ward No. 9 with a commanding lead of 115 votes.
Their dual victory has become a major talking point in the city’s political circles, with party workers and supporters celebrating the success enthusiastically. Political observers believe that such victories reflect the growing support base of Congress in the Municipal Council elections in Ferozepur.
The results of Ward No.21 to 33 are still awaited. From the trend it seems that Congress will get the majority.
