New Delhi, June 10, 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday created history by becoming the longest-serving Prime Minister of India in consecutive tenure, completing 4,399 uninterrupted days in office and surpassing the record of India's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, who served 4,398 consecutive days after the first General Election.
To mark the milestone, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will hold a high-level meeting at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi at 3 p.m., bringing together Chief Ministers, Deputy Chief Ministers and senior leaders from all **22 NDA-ruled states and Union Territories.
Prime Minister Modi will chair the conclave, which will be attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah and several senior Union ministers. Among those expected to participate are Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.
Leaders of NDA allies, including Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, are also likely to attend the meeting.
According to sources, the conclave coincides with the NDA government's completion of 12 years at the Centre and will review the implementation of flagship welfare schemes and infrastructure projects to ensure last-mile delivery. The meeting is also expected to assess the roadmap for "Viksit Bharat 2047" and deliberate on key international developments, including the evolving situation in West Asia.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Tuesday highlighted what it described as a "remarkable transformation" in India's foreign policy under Prime Minister Modi's leadership over the past 12 years.
The MEA said India's global stature has expanded significantly through initiatives such as the International Solar Alliance, the internationalisation of Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and the country's growing role as the voice of the Global South and a first responder during international crises.
Prime Minister Modi has also received congratulatory messages and tributes from Union Ministers, political leaders, global dignitaries and eminent personalities from various fields on achieving the historic milestone.
With 4,399 consecutive days in office, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has entered the record books by overtaking Jawaharlal Nehru's uninterrupted tenure, marking a significant chapter in India's political history.
