Amritsar (Punjab), October 4, 2026: Punjab Congress Working President Raj Kumar Verka on Sunday criticised the state government over the shooting of social media influencer Mad Sandhu, alleging that the incident reflected a deterioration in law and order in Punjab.
Verka alleged that Sandhu was shot dead by unidentified assailants and claimed that the government had failed to ensure the safety of people in the state.
“There is an atmosphere of fear in Punjab and people are living under its shadow,” Verka said, accusing the Bhagwant Mann-led government of failing to address the law-and-order situation.
Taking a political swipe at the state government, Verka also criticised the publicity campaigns highlighting the government as “magnificent” and “honest”. He alleged that the reality on the ground was different.
Verka further questioned the silence of Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann over the incident.
The police investigation into the shooting is underway, and the identities and motive of the attackers are yet to be established.
