Mohali (Punjab), June 6, 2026: Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu on Saturday urged students to pursue excellence, embrace multidisciplinary learning and develop leadership qualities during a visit to Plaksha University.
Interacting with the university’s leadership, faculty members and students, Sandhu highlighted the importance of combining academic knowledge with real-world experiences to prepare for future challenges.
He held discussions with Vice-Chancellor Rudra Pratap, Pro-Vice Chancellor Arvind Agarwal, Dean of Research Sunita Chauhan, and members of the university’s founding community regarding the institution’s academic vision, research initiatives and leadership development programmes.
A key highlight of the visit was Sandhu’s interaction with over 380 students participating in the university’s YTS+ summer programme. Drawing on his more than three decades of experience in the Indian Foreign Service, he encouraged students to remain curious, work hard and continuously strive for excellence.
Emphasising the value of diverse experiences, Sandhu said exposure to different cultures, ideas and perspectives plays a crucial role in shaping future leaders. He also praised Plaksha University’s efforts to promote interdisciplinary education, noting that many of the world’s emerging challenges require solutions that extend beyond traditional academic disciplines.
Advising students to look beyond degrees and focus on skill development, he encouraged them to step out of their comfort zones, engage with real-world challenges and pursue their passions with dedication.
Concluding his address, Sandhu said leadership is built through teamwork, empathy and accountability, and urged young people to contribute meaningfully to society while representing India with distinction on the global stage.
